Benchmarking and
Overclocking (cont.)
Something that took me for
surprise what the small decrease in performance when going
from 16-bit color to 32-bit color. The Viper II did drop down
in performance significantly at higher resolutions, but that
was to be expected.

After a few benchmark tests, I
decided to see how far the Viper II could be overclocked. I
have heard before that the Viper II could reach high
overclocking speeds, so I was eager to see if this was true.
It took me a while to find a utility that allowed me to
overclock the board, but I finally found a great utility
called S3Tweak.
After
gradually increasing the core speed, I was amazed that the
core operated flawlessly at 150MHz. The memory, with a default
clock speed of 143MHz, clocked all the way up to 166MHz.
