Testing
notes
Before
I go anywhere near benchmarks/screenshots I’d just like to
make a few things. I’m not going to be doing much
non-FSAA benchmarks for the simple reason that I hate
what non-FSAA looks like now.
All
screenshots were originally saved in both Targa (*.tga)
& JPEG (*.jpg) format with highest image quality used,
rather than highest compression. Although due to file size
limitations the Targa images have since been dropped.
Other
than those few things I approached the review like a regular
gamer would a game, i.e. I want a playable game with a good
image quality/performance trade-off. Benchmarks were carried
out as such. Where appropriate you may download the config
files used in the games.
Display
settings used during benchmarking unless otherwise noted
were;
-
3D
Filter Quality – High
-
Alpha-Blending
– Sharper
-
Anti-Aliasing
– Dependant on the benchmark.
-
Level
Of Detail Bias – -1.5
-
Z-Buffer
Optimization – Enable
-
Glide
Splash screen – Disable
-
Legacy
Texture Compression – Enable
-
Maximum
Buffered Frames – 2
-
Rendering
Color Depth – Software controlled
-
MIP
Map dithering – Enable
- Tripple
Buffering - Disable
My
system
For
sake of convenience here is what my system consists of -
this is what was used during testing of the Voodoo 5 5500
AGP.
All
latest drivers are installed (Official drivers that is)
& any other relevant updates. Unless noted otherwise
BIOS settings & others were set as shown in the
appropriate Tweaking
guides.
