300W power supply for GTX 1050

While I agree with the others that you're pushing it with just 300 watts, provide us with the rest of your components. Like CPU, number drives, fans, etc. Not only will this help us decide if the 300 watts is enough (it's not going to be), it'll help you find a suitable replacement.

FWIW, I just pulled an Antec "Earthwatts" 380 watter out of a 13 year old PC, working perfectly. They sold them a 430 watts as well.

Once upon a time they were constantly on sale at Newegg. Antec PSUs were alternately made by Seasonic, and Delta, both good suppliers.

My latest build, (6600K & GTX-1050 ti got a Seasonic 550 watt semi modular jobbie. Given that the 1050 doesn't even need a 6 pin power plug, 550 watts may be a bit of overkill, but it should last forever.

Sure! But we will not guarantee longevity for either GPU or PSU. You would be taking a page out of an OEM hand book. A hand book of which all IT specialist spend their time preaching against.
Given that the 300 watt figure was also given in conjunction with the 750 ti, which was rated at only 50 watts nominal draw, yes, it may be optimistic.

I\d still sleep well with either a 380 or 430 watt PSU, the higher value with a 80 or 90 watt quad core
