Any rational person should be able to recognize that radicalism is not good for most people no matter the side.
The key word here is "rational". If people were rational, this mess wouldn't exist in the first place. This is why there are no fascist Vulcans in Star Trek.

Look no further than the Sheriff's own words. The object is to teach white nationalists (whatever that is) a lesson. They're simply not going to allow people to post horrendous fliers saying that Hitler was right. OMG! You just have to laugh at the irony. To suppress Hitler they act like Hitler.

People forget that the single most important American value is FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

George Orwell wrote "Free speech is my right to say what you don't want to hear."
I'm sure the same people cheering said officer today would be calling for his head in 2020. ACAB, after all.

The law is incredibly hypocritical, as is enforcement, and thus any action they take should be evaluated on its ability to oppress. Saying a naughty on the internet is not a crime, but the powers that be sure would love to make it one.

It's not hard to find people making threats. Of all colors, of all creeds. Yet this guy was arrested. Why? IMO it's because he specifically talked about the authorities, and the authorities hate it when aggression is turned towards them.

Not a credible death threat - maybe hate speech , speech to incite violence.
The police seemed so casual - so they know it was no threat - no swat team - no really drawn guns. ( well done police here )

Hopefully he's just a silly man-baby and and realises he does need to post edgy stuff to his "friends" and gets on with his life

Speech to incite violence - see Trumps latest - is it NY district attorneys amping up security - that's more credible - Trump knows he has crazy attack dogs - he can abuse and dump - he loves it - they love being abused by him - like some weirdo cult .
I wonder if anyone got punished for inciting Pizza gate - probably not as too hard , too diffused

Then there is the incel thing - maybe he has a partner - but that is something people throw at both sexes - eg she just needs a ****. It has to be a society problem.
All ways cracks me up in a sad way when some loners go postal - but how could they do that to the community - when it's obvious as loners they don't feel they belong , or cared about.

What is 4Chan anyway? I've heard of it in passing but that's about it.

There's one word in this article that makes something this stupid sound so believable.
"FLOR-I-DUH!"

Why is it that the people who pull this crap all look like they belong in a zoo? 😁
You know that's maybe not a bad example. 4chan is sort of like the Florida of the internet with swamps, incel loving Trump supporters, and a need for don't rape your daughter billboards just like in Florida. I'm sadly not joking about the billboards part.

Define hate speech?

If you say something like that...you're a threat, bottom line.

it's come to point where we have to take pretty much everything seriously, leave the dude alone and he acts on it or someone else does and everyone will point the finger at evidence and scream why nothing was done, go and arrest him like so and people scream he hasnt done anything except talk, why get him?

so which is it? if you looked at me and said "I hope someone kills you" im not going to just let you wander off and think welp, he didnt do it so im safe forever, no! im going to the police, somebody and say what you did and hope something is done even if its something as simple as a cop saying "dont kill that dude"

it isnt the neckbeard I'm even mad at in this article, it's the fact people are fine with deaththreats. people will go the eff off over a wrong food order but someone mulling over your death? meh.
So, would you like to see this rule applied universally? Say for instance, redditors making threats to Donald Trump? Or Antifa protestors theatening police?

I'd like to hear your thoughts on that.

What's an incel? Is that hate speech? Someone told me it was hate speech directed toward virgin men online. I think that should be considered hate speech in all lands and prosecuted as such.

This guy is perfect. He's almost identical to the mental image I conjure every time I run into an Internet Tough Guy. I jumped to the comments too quickly, but was he living with his mom?

LOL, the fat slob even fits the stereotype of a troll. He should have "Troll" tattooed on his forehead and be publicly flogged.

Let me guess he was living in his parents basement too.

Regurgitating the same MSM rhetoric regarding men who live in multigenerational family homes. Very tolerant of you.

Attacking this man based solely on his physical appearance. What happened to weight acceptance? You seem to be targeting individuals based on thier apperance. Is that a hate crime?

Tolerance wasn't my goal. I was just chuckling about this guy who was trying to incite violence against another human. Welcome to Techspot, "new" member.

I said he fits the stereotype. And I care as much about his feelings as he does about being a decent human.

all these are judgement calls - just expect it to be handled fairly - very common for politicians to get death threats - the problem is building a case vs just mouthing off , freedom of speech, right to protest.
Do I think Mike Pence would be hanged no - but if they had a noose and placed to hang it - would knows with those riled up loonies.
see my judgement here based on little evidence - not a creditable death threat - but maybe incitement to violence.
Police will generally arrest the most aggro rock throwing protestors no matter their political persuasion or how just the cause.
I'm not American- saying that most Democrats are perfectly happy to see people who purport to be on their side arrested for violence , corruption , child abuse etc - I see far more GOP supporters thinking the insurrectionist were heroes , those that want to kidnap that Senator were heroes - these were not young naive students protesting the Vietnam war at Ohio State.

I personally vote on policies - I do have people preferences - but I don't tie my mast to them - I was very surprised my first time in USA in '88 to see how many people had bumper stickers for politicians - I'll much more likely to wear a big Nike or Coca cola logo on my shirt than do that - unless a personal friend - I don't wear big logos .

ie support the idea not the person - so if person goes bad - it's a shame - but your support is still good for the idea.

With Trump supporters - least the ones who say I like what he's trying to do - but I have to hold my nose for his lies , his ego , his making fun of the disabled etc - I can understand - but the far Christian right equating with Jesus/God - ugh - that he is always right, supersmart - yet contradicts himself again and again - so makes no sense

I have to agree with posts from Jasuj, yRaz and kiwigraeme in that I rather doubt this indictment will hold up to legal scrutiny.

Though I would not say this is so much a well considered attempt at establishing legal precedent, as it is about this sheriff's department simply trying to message that they are tough and decisive. Which is not something new as far as public officials in the degenerate state of Florida is concerned.

Wait, WHAT?! That's actually a thing?! OMFG! :scream:

I honestly had no idea, but I looked them up and they brought real tears to my eyes:

This is... I want to say something but I've got nothing. The idea that this is real has created an emotional tempest within me. I'm going to have to try to put this out of my mind now.

A part of me wishes I didn't see this but a bigger part of me is glad that I did because ignorance can be the most dangerous kind of bliss and awareness can be the most important kind of pain.

It's amazing how Trump lives rent free in so many people's minds. (grrr the orange buffoon is the epitome of all evil)

Anyway, good luck convincing 12 people in Florida that this was a credible threat.

Also kira setsu congratulations you just advocated for the U.S. to work like Iraq under Saddam Hussein. I wonder which group would come out on top in that scenario... It definitely wouldn't likely be religious nutjobs?
