A Musical Journey Through PC Gaming's Most Unforgettable Soundtracks

Missing some seriius OG; feels like list was put together by a 00s gamer vs lne during the dawn of PC gaming in the 80s. Incrimjnating ommissions:
1. Quake II
2. Quake
3. Rome: Total War
4. Panzer General
5. TES III Morrowind
6. TES II Daggerfall
7. 7 Cities of Gold
8. Star Wars Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight

I'd be remiss not to call out World of Warcraft here. Some of the zone music is just truly special, and the fantastic scores span from Vanilla (Elwynn Forest) right up to the latest expansion (Isle of Dorn).

Carmaggedon (first), Outcast, and Wipe out. Outcast winning by far (and not only for the soundtrack, the voxel engine and so much more).

Railroad tycoon. I haven't played the game in 20 years, but I can still hear the Casey Jones-esque music thrumming in my head.
Doom.
Obviously.

Most soundtracks do not add to the game. I am out and about everyday whether it's rural or cosmopolitan. I don't understand people that go to the beach, take a jog, enjoy the colors of fall and have ear buds playing a song or listening to a book while they are touring. The same holds true for me regarding games. I want to hear the ambience of life whether it's real life or game life. I turn the music off in 95% of games and in those that I leave it on it is very low.

I think it's fair to say that just about any classic PC game had a stellar soundtrack.
Quake 2 stands out for me. Quake 3 and Quake 4 didn't have enough memorable tracks.
Obviously the Doom games made their mark.
Crysis 2 was a masterpiece of sound - even if the game wasn't perfect.
Unreal's music wasn't memorable, but it was perfect for its time and the exploration aspect of the game.
Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge is still, to this day, a game I play daily.

For the people who loved Duke Nukem games, I really hope you heard the total Meltdown soundtrack when Duke was ported to Playstation.

Whatever floats your boat. But if you haven't listened to Days of Future Passed by The Moody Blues whilst walking through Central Park on a cool fall day you are missing the soundtrack of life.

I was there when the album came out. "Tuesday Afternoon" is an excellent song for about half. They had their own sound which is why they got played. I bought DOFP and two others. I appreciated their music for quite awhile. These days it is just like cheese that didn't age well. I am glad you like it and it brings you joy. Which is a kind way of saying whatever floats your boat. I understand they are regaled by many just not me.

Cyberia (1994) Score by Mike Kapitan and 2 tracks by Thomas Dolby. Very epic. They don't make things like this anymore.
