Access Denied upon Game Installation

My Compaq Presario SR1990AN has recently been playing up. When I try to install a video game (namely The Sims 3), when trying to install the first file it comes up with the following message:
"Feature tranfer error
File: C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{CO5D8CDB-417D-4335-A38c-AO659EDFD6B8}\layout.bin
Error: Access is denied."

It's running on Windows XP Home Edition. 2002, I believe.

Have you tried installing the game as the system administrator? The below are the most common causes of the error you are receiving.

Cause

* Damaged CD
* Problem with the CD or DVD drive
* Your Windows User Account does not have sufficient permissions
* Attempting to install across a network
* Problem with InstallShield
