i have two hardwired identical compaqs w/ windows vista home basic and an hp laptop with windows xp and an asus laptop w/ windows 7. They are not networked except for using the same router to our phone company dsl. the compaqs hang up alot. the laptops not as much. but they hang up whether i'm connected to internet or not. windows will state 'not responding' and may take one to two minutes to 'unhang'. the processing icon ( hourglass ) will run and hang several times during this. can't come up with a common denominator. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
