AMD calls demand for Radeon 9070 and 9070 XT "unprecedented," says restocking at MSRP is priority number one

They will always underdeliver on inventory

Un-sold and eventually discounted inventory eventually becomes a LOSS for both AMD and retailers. No business wants that.

I guarantee Microcenter LOVES the extra traffic too of people coming in to check inventory.

Never understand the urgent urgency to get these. Just wait 6 months to a year then buy one at or lower msrp. Plus the added benefit of more mature drivers and fix’s to the card itself that might arise.

I'm with you on this one... Also...
I got the 49" 5120x1440 monitor for my birthday last August, so by this coming August I hopefully can get the XT for (or slightly less) than retail to upgrade my 3060Ti (which is STILL remarkably proficient). I may even wait for Xmas to be sure...
Of course the green team could release a competitive 16GB model for a similar price to sway me back... \s

Sitting back and enjoying the sh!tshow as people flake out over not being able to buy new cards. It has always been madness for the few 3 months of new gpu launch.

I will sit back, let people fight over scraps, and get gouged. In 6-9 months or so this will all be a distant memory.

People want these cards so bad they are willing to give up their first born.

You all need to relax, stop paying 30-50% over MSRP, wait for the prices to come down to normalcy. Everyone is spending what they are asking then complaining about prices and wonder why every launch prices are so high in the beginning, stop paying the hiked-up prices.

Instant gratification is expensive, thats not just a saying!

Sorry... I celebrated 57 years of age yesterday. Judging by the evolving situation in this market segment in Canada, I fully expect to be able to get a MRSP mid-high tier card if I patiently wait until I'm 87 or so. If ever.

Cherrypicking

I'll be the first to admit ky XTX won't catch a 5080, where it was easily a match for a 4080 in every title I play...

But seriously? Calling an 4k 18 game average cherrypicking? I could see if he were trotting out CoD or something, but an 18 game average...no.

You got an XTX because it was *better* than a 4080 in raster and that's what you wanted. And it delivers. Makes sense that the 5 or 6% difference would swing after a generational launch.

Wrong

At least nVidia has a bit more of an excuse (in terms of launch numbers only, the bugs missing ROPs and melting is completely inexcusable), given that they are 85-90% of the Desktop market, demand is going to be much higher for their cards and especially for a new halo card, and that their monolithic design is more expensive and lower-yielding to produce than chiplet MCMs. Despite this, we still say nVidia paper-launched, no?
Nvidia has less of an excuse because
A) They know they'll sell regardless of the product being objectively bad
B) Multiple retailers have said the supply of RX 9000 series was multitudes that of the RTX 5000 series
C) They have always outsold AMD 8 to 1 in the last two decades or so and have a lot more money to buy more stock

AMDs design is just as monolithic. It was just the 7000 series where they tried it and apparently weren't happy with how that turned out

Are we really going there again? Argue with the number yourself if you want...

its cool chart, I love my 7900XTX, but im eager to wait for FSR4 Games, that my card will never support

It's crystal clear that both Amd and Nvidia are keeping their supplies low so that the prices remain high. It's basic economics.
