AMD could launch a 'mid-range' RDNA 4 GPU that's faster than the Radeon RX 7900 XT

No it cant. The 7900xtx isnt getting 40% overclocks. No tech site has seen anything like this.
There is no universe that the 7900xtx is beating a 4090, not in any realistic scenario anyway. And that's before we get to the RT argument.
you should get your eyes checked, xtx is usually under 10% performance of 4090, and in more optimized games it beats it easy.

Right, so we’re going to ignore that for every game the 7900XTX “beats” (or should probably be better known as “matches”) the 4090, the 4090 beats it in 5 other games?

I mean, I don’t know why you’d hang your argument out on cherry picking a few games it excels in, if you do that the other way round (cherry pick games the 4090 is good in) it absolutely wipes the floor.

I’ll just leave these here in-case some poor randomer comes along reading these comments and for a moment believes all your rubbish:

Why are you a sore loser ? its' true 4090 beats xtx overall (in brute force) but in lots of games it loses, just because you link some test (that tests like max 6 games) does not mean anything.

Dont be a shill, and choose what is always best, AKA price per performance.

My friend, either you are woefully blind, or just upset with reality, that you are cheerleading a thought, instead of dealing with reality. Yes, the XTX beats the 4090 in many games (most of which frames matter, ie COD)... sorry if these facts offends your bias.

Secondly, the XTX doesn't need OC tricks to beat the 4090, here is a simple Starfield review of modern cards. I can't see too many people spending an added +$700 for a 4090, do you?

Oh hey, we're cherry picking! An AMD sponsored title at that! I can do that too!

What was that about 7900xtx being faster again?

My friend, every benchmark that a $950 GPU beats a $1,800 GPU is going to be handpicked...!! Because it should NEVER happen.... but with RDNA vs Ada it happens too often, & mostly in competitive games where one would be purchasing a GPU.

Again, who do you know who plays Cyberpunk professionally or competitively that they would run out and buy a $1,800 to get more frames... ??
Or any single-player game...

Secondly, try at least 3 different websites... handpicking from techpowerup is like pulling it from nVidia's website. Already showed you just one example where the XTX beating the 4090 is true, so that whole argument is now moot.

Lastly, if you have a $1,800 dGPU... gaming at 71 frames is a joke.

Nobody is going to do that, because nobody who owns a $1,800 dGPU cares. Never using, or turning off Shill-Tracing is the best way to get gaming performance on any card, in any game.... instant boost (Can't recommend it enough...). Really should stop talking about a card's ray-tracing performance until $450 nVidia cards can run a game at more than Xbox speeds, because you are madly insane if you think people are going to spend an extra +$750 more to enable ray tracing in a game at gaming speeds... for a benchmark.
