AMD Radeon RX 470 Review: Almost an RX 480 and that's a good thing

So you blast me for not providing proof - yet now that you've been proven wrong, you decide that your own opinion is more valid than proof... Great argument!

Proven wrong? Where?

Once again - try reading my argument.... Your reply is nonsensical... The 280 cannot be compared in any way to the 470... And now you make a blanket statement that today's $200 will last longer than 4 years ago's card (with no proof other than your opinion)!! Is this your way of tacitly admitting you were wrong?

280 can be compared as it was sold even less than 470.

I don't bother to offer proof for that as you simply don't have enough knowledge and experience and so it's pointless to prove anything. That console example proves it.

Go do a bit of research and provide some hard proof for your insanely inaccurate opinions before you expect anyone to believe them.

Do you even believe your own opinions?

Here...

And here....

Had you bothered to actually read, you'd see the initial MSRP of the cards you bandy about as comparable to the 470....

No, it can't... because it wasn't... I refer you back to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_Radeon_Rx_200_series

It started at $249....

And you claim that it's 4 years old cause it's a copy of the 7950.... I refer you AGAIN to
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radeon_HD_7000_Series

That card started at $450.... you want to compare it to the 470?!!??!

You don't "bother" because you can't do it... your points are all based on your own opinions and have no actual basis in fact. The console example completely proves your point - because you don't have one!!

Do you even believe your own opinions?

Well, I'd ask you the same thing... I can back my opinions up with evidence... you can do no such thing... maybe you might want to look in a mirror and think about this?

As already stated, quite few cards sell at MSRP.

I don't care about MSRP, I care about how much it actually cost.

You're not even trying to discuss about anything so even if I prove it, you still disagree. I have enough experience about this also.

"Evidence" from Wikipedia :D

OK... here you go then....
http://www.anandtech.com/show/7828/amd-announces-radeon-r9-280-radeon-hd-7950b-returns

The MSRP was actually $279.... The $249 was actually too low.... happy now? And go try and buy the 280 - even 2 years later, it sells for $200!!

Actually, I'm the only one actually trying to have a discussion - I'm providing a clear argument with lots of supporting evidence... you're just spouting nonsense with nothing to back it up...

You don't like Wikipedia - fine, enjoy the new links I gave... they're even MORE detrimental to your case!

So you admit you were previously wrong?

I see that it sells under $200 ($199.99).

You just proved yourself that your previous "evidence" was wrong. Quite an achievement.

You just proved yourself that your previous "evidence" was wrong. Quite an achievement.

So now you're just being deliberately obtuse? As you yourself stated, MSRP is different than actual cost... I gave you a link for both...

And actual cost NOW is not what we're talking about!!! $200 is how much you can buy the 280 for NOW - not when it was released!! It's MSRP was $279 and it's ACTUAL cost was $249.... Hence the difference in the links!! There is no contradiction there!

I'm sure you'll be able to get the 280 for $100 or so in 2 years.... but that's NOT RELEVANT!!!

Heck, you can buy a Dell XPS from 2007 that used to cost north of $6000 for about $500.... is that relevant?!?! NO!!!!!

Point is (I know, you've forgotten it) that you should not be comparing the 280 to this card - there is no reason to do so!!!

This card is a very good card for its cost - under $200 for excellent 1080P gaming NOW is a great deal. To be spouting how this card will be useful for gaming on new AAA titles in 4 years is simply ludicrous - you base it on your own opinions and have absolutely no credible evidence to support it.

So you finally realized that MSRP and actual cost may be different? Remember how I said you just lack experience. Because if you had enough experience, that wouldn't need any proof or even checking.

Yea, I got it under $200. That matters me.

Dell XPS is not video card (did not check) so that's not relevant. True. With more experience you would realize that I know that without even telling that.

And why not?

Perhaps because I said 2 years...

You got it for under $200..... Good for you.... Not relevant as everyone else paid $250 at launch....

Buying it NOW is the entire point.... Buying it in 2 years isn't relevant to any arguments we are making...

And you said both 2 and 4 years (my point about you having an inane and nonsensical argument) - your nonsense about the 7950 being your 4 year nonsense...

And the 470 being able to game on AAA titles in 2 years is also completely unsupported by any evidence....

Buying WHAT now? R9 280 has been superseded by R9 380 and RX 470. So better buy those new ones.

7950 is 4 years old and R9 280 is rebranded 7950.

Without time machine it's impossible to prove something that happens after two years. Something you would know if you had enough experience.

Wow.... You really don't get it.... I see you finally agree with me though... It IS impossible to prove anything will happen in 2 years... So STOP making those outrageous claims!

And that took so long for you to realize? This is what I mean when talking about experience.

Squid Surprise and HardReset, let's call a timeout. I don't think you have anything more to gain by continuing your argument. It is repetitive, not really accomplishing anything at this point and derailing the topic. However, if you really feel the need to carry on your discussion, please do so via PM. Thanks.

Nice find Steve. The GTX 1060 are selling for $249.99. Better go to gtx1060 for 50 dollars more and the benchmarks proves why.

No. The benchmarks show that for 25% more money, you get 10-15% more performance. That price-performance ratio is poor, and the RX480 is therefore a better buy, unless you're a fanboy of course.

A bit late with that reply mate :) Anyway the newegg.com and Microcenter links both show stock 100% out! As it stands world wide the GTX 1060 and RX 480 command the same price tag.

Yeah, the comments section here is something I don't waste a ton of time with, thus the lack of reply. ;)

Fair enough, I wouldn't bother posting incorrect information to begin with then ;)

RX 480's (one is in stock at $290) finally it looks like a board partner card is on sale.
