AMD to unveil RX 9000 series February 28, leaked specs and prices emerge

Im sorry but $50 less than the Nvidia equivalent is not enough for AMD. I would definitely pay the extra $50 and get all the Nvidia features like DLSS. Especially at this end of the market.

AMD are always chasing Nvidia. We need a better competitor.

It is not 50$ anymore, it is 200$. 5070TI retails for 900$. There is only a single SKU that hit the MSRP which will sold out on the first day of launch. AIBs will sell you the garbage at 900$.

The 700$ (RUMORLY) is for the the AIB version, not the MSRP or the reference model.

Trust me at 600-700, its DOA.
Just as much as RTX 5070 ti at 1000 is. And 1100 it will be, its 90% confirmed. I mean 4070 ti super is already 1000... soo.

Everything is DOA. Fun new generation.

The RX 9070 XT undercutting the RTX 5070 Ti on price is great news, but AMD still has to prove it can close the gap. If FSR 4 truly competes with DLSS, this generation could be a serious turning point for Team Red in the high-end market.

It looks more like a $775 AMD which slots it between the $750 5070Ti and the $1000 5080 by the looks of those screenshots.

If we’re talking strictly MSRP, then we’re talking about $700 5070xt vs the $750 5070Ti. If that’s the case and the AMD is around the same performance level overall, then there’s not much incentive for AMD cardsto fly off the shelves other than a lack of Nvidia cards in the next shelf in the store. Plus, the average Moe will gladly pay even $100-150 more for Nvidia’s “advanced” features, because they are supposed to be “the best” no?

So, even at $700 MSRP the 5070xt will have to be closer to 4080 Super/ 5080 in terms of performance to make it a really good deal. And AMD should aim for that unparalleled price/ performance ratio if they want to gain any market share.

As for myself, I spot a 6800 which I got for a pretty good price in 2023. I really like it and serves my gaming and photography pretty well so I would love to pick up a 9070xt and relegate that 6800 to Media Center use (itself replacing an old 1080 which served me with distinction).
Picked up my 6800 XT in 2022 for $400 mislabeled as a vanilla 6800. Was awesome until it started artifacting the other day. AMD's treated their customers great, with awesome upgrade paths for CPUs and new features (FSR3/AFMF2) trickled down to 4-year old cards like the 6800s. Not to mention the 6800s were quite decent to begin with.

No crystal ball here, but I see the 5070 Ti going to $1000 easily and the 9070 XT finding a home between $700-800. It's going to have hard time with the 5070 in that same range but its raw performance should blow that card away.

AMD once again over price their cards because they look at their best-case raster performance and just price it to fit into NVidias over-priced stack at a competing price. Nobody buys them because they aren't NVidia cards so don't have DLSS3 etc etc. Six months later (by which time nobody cares) they lower the price to something more reasonable and another generation of AMD cards drift into history and obscurity.

Unfortunately AMD has a very bad track record of launches. It would not surprise me at all if it’s $700+ I guess on the positive side it’s unlikely scalpers will target the card, once you factor in non msrp of the new Nvidia cards it might look more appealing.

Nvidia just has more value built into their ecosystem, AMD time and time again fail to realize this. Hope I’m wrong, we will see.

This statement is echoed at every launch, yet the outcomes always the same.

AMD NEVER misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
At 500 - 600 USD, this would have been a serious hit and forced NVidia to come up with something, while at the same time provide AMD enough capital to come up with a 20 Gb series later this year or in 2026.
Instead, we have yet another AMD failure this year, at 800 USD.
Oh well, 5070Ti it is, then. Guess my old 3080 will be replaced by another NVidia GPU.

In what world is a 6.6% discount significant?!?

The 9070 XT would have to match the 5080 in RT and exceed it raster to not be DOA at $700.

I hope this is a retailer guess (which -$50 is a good one historically) because I doubt the 9070 XT will be performant enough to support higher than $600 max.

In the world where NVidia marks up their product on launch to give room to drop it when AMD launches at a paltry discount.

Yeah $200 is maybe enough to dissuade a 5070Ti buyer. The problem is most people I know wont buy AMD even if it was half the price and that includes me. Too many bad experiences with Radeon to make me bother.

What I find interesting is that the market tends to avoid AMD and are happy paying the prices for Nvidia. Which tells me that the people in these comments sections are not representative of the market of these products at all.

Myself, I upgrade my graphics card every 2 generations, with 1 exception. Currently on a 3080<-1080<-780ti<-570. The only exception is the first card I got was a 4890 that I upgraded to a 570 to lower the power draw. If they've roll reversed where NVidia is using stupid high power melting cables and cards, I'll switch.

I’m going to wait for some reviews before I decide. AMD seems to have better linux support, but much worse ray tracing, AI, efficiency, and heat. Hopefully they fixed that in the new generation, but I’ll wait for reviews before I make any decisions to buy anything from any brand.

Luckily, this info is not confirmed. If it turns out to be true, then as others have stated, this gen is just not viable for typical non rich gamer. (Far stronger adjectives have been used, ha ha!)

I'm still holding out some hope that this leaked info is incorrect, but if it turns out true. What the heck kind of strategy is this, AMD?

Prices are an absolute joke, can't believe someone hasn't already stepped in and upended the market with similar products at a massively reduced RRP
