AMD Zen 5 core architecture could be 40% faster than Zen 4

Yeah some of those deltas have those 40% improvements but averages at 16 to 17% when you take out gaming from equation. Hopefully Zen5 3d can significantly improve on the later.

AMD promized around 17%, everything seems to be OK. More testing https://www.phoronix.com/review/amd-zen5-avx-512-9950x

Intel fanboys may argue how AMD messed up despite fact that adding AVX512 support for software takes around few seconds.

I think we should restart this convo now that the official benches are out.

Zen 5 is 2% faster than Zen 4, and sometimes slower.

Oh, and that is if you remember to go thru the special windows config process.
Correct, Zen 5 is underwhelming for the average Joe. It seems that the real gains were in server and workstation workloads, not for games and regular applications. Michael from Phoronix was really happy with the 18-20% perf uplift on linux :)

As for me, I'm disappointed in the windows results. Although I'm ok with Zen 5 for laptops, something I'm much more interested in since I want a new laptop after Nvidia 5000 launches.

It's not That much workload dependent but more about crappy software. It takes literally seconds to add AVX512 support on software, it just seems more Linux users are willing to spend those few seconds vs Windows developers.

Still, some workloads will benefit more than others but still, no AVX512 support means Zen5 looks pretty bad. But again, there are basically no reasons why we still have ANY software in use without AVX512 support.

Being someone who does enjoy a bit emulation from time to time, I must say that Zen 5 AVX 512 perf looks really nice right now :)
