Another blow for gamers as Zotac hikes RTX 5090 prices and removes MSRP models

A hot potato: It's another day, another company raising the prices of its already expensive RTX 5090 graphics cards. On this occasion, the culprit is Zotac, which has also removed any flagship cards priced at MSRP from its storefront.

As highlighted by a Reddit user, the cheapest RTX 5090 Zotac card on the company's store, the Solid OC, is now $2,700, while the RTX 5090 Amp Extreme Infinity is $3,000. That's an increase of $500 on each card compared to their original prices.

Zotac's store no longer lists any RTX 5090 cards at MSRP, either. The company did list a non-OC version for the Solid on the site at Nvidia's recommended $1,999 price, but it appears that the model was pulled after selling just a few units.

Zotac isn't alone when it comes to hiking card prices – and removing or increasing the price of MSRP models. It was reported in February that both MSI and Asus had done the same thing, increasing RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 prices by up to $400.

Extra tariffs on Chinese goods are likely contributing to the price hikes, as most graphics cards are assembled and tested in China. But that's far from the only reason. There's also the restricted supply and higher manufacturing costs to consider. Moreover, some companies are simply charging more for these cards because they know the huge demand ensures people will pay a fortune for them.

VideoCardz also notes that Zotac introduced a method for loyal community members to buy RTX 50-series cards in February. Designed to combat scalpers and bots, the program offers priority access to members of the Zotac Gaming Discord server. However, it seems the company has been offering hardly any cards through this service. In one case, only three RTX 5080 Amp Extreme Infinity cards were available.

The graphics card market is going through the kind of turmoil not seen since the bad old days of 2020 and 2021, when the pandemic-induced chip crisis and a crypto boom led to similar high prices and lack of stock globally. It seems the only place to find an RTX 5000 at MSRP recently has been a food truck at Nvidia's GTC conference.

AIBs can't make any money because nVidia isn't sending out any chips while also not leaving any margin on the table. EVGA said as much when they said they were done dealing with nVidia. Without any cards to sell, many people aren't buying new motherboards, monitors or gaming accessories from them.

nVidias paper launch is hurting board partners way beyond just card sales.

Here in Spain, the Solid OC costs almost 3700euros and you will have to wait 2 weeks to get it. And that's the cheapest model for 5090. So if they are raising prices and keep selling out, I don't see any reason why they should stop. I will not freak out if next year the high end AMD GPU will cost 1800 after tax if they can compete with 5080 perf.

A basic journalism investigation shows that the Zotac 5090 is made in Indonesia and not china. Asus, msi, and gigabyte are made in china and their hikes coincided with tariff actions. For zotac it's greed. Boycott them and their bogus discord system where they offer you a 5000 system to get a basic 5090 that was 1999 and 700 dollars in low end parts nobody wants they probably get wholesale at bottom dollar.

I thought I scammed myself when I bought the 5090 Astral OC for 2780 USD due to a severe case of FOMO - but seems I bought it «just in time»

Right? I reluctantly grabbed a 5070 Ti (due in April) for $900 but maybe that was a good move after all? Things are getting crazy again. I just can't get out of my head that:

The 5080 was an okay replacement at $1000.
Therefore the 5070 Ti should be no more than $800 ($750 was a nice 4080 markdown)
Therefore the 9070 XT should be no more that $700 ($600 was a nice dream)
And the 5070/9070 will have a nice battle at $550 (now $650) though they should really be $500.

I think the latest presentations from Nvidia clearly states they’re not putting any priority into gaming at the moment. That division of Nvidia is such a tiny revenue stream that it has almost been put into maintenance mode compared to AI datacentres. They get to keep the «gaming throne» for those who are willing to shell out huge amounts of cash - but there’s no big requirement for them to actually deliver large quantities to the consumers.
Prices will remain high until the market is sated for AI - something that could take at least 3-4 more years

Really who is buying these ? I get there is a certain % of Pop that don't care. I get those scared and trying to beat tarrifs

But F 'em , just play old games , hopefully AMD can boost volume and would pressure on partners

I think this house of cards with fall, else I'll keep my claim , play GOG on PC and get a PS6.
FSR4 is apparently coming to PS5 pro- should be curated and checked for best settings I suppose/

$1000 should get you a beast of card before becoming silly end of story . $750 excellent , $500 vey good and $300 a very capable 1440p GPU

All 0.001% of the gaming population will be majorly peeved. No one give a toss, but the media still trying to drum up support for RTX5000. Nvidia are now irrelevant.

No matter how hard you think it is to find a new GPU, I promise you getting a PS6 right now is harder!
Not my fault you didn't get a developers kit :)

Imagine PS6 might be comparable to a 9700xt
Imagine Sony may even have 2 models day one $700 vs $900. Yeah I think they will go up in price as well
