My scanner used to work, but all I get is that error message:
"Cannot find default data source in the current directory"
Don't know what that means :(
Disk whereabouts is unknown :(

If it's a driver problem, all I see are references not going past Win2000. I have XP Home.

It may be time to invest in an all-in-one printer (Printer, Scanner, Fax) They are not that expensive any longer

It's a perfectly good scanner. It may just need a software re-installation, but I have no clue where my original disk may be. Can't find an on-line source, even at Artec.

It is a driver issue, so what are you going to do, but retire it now. It may be a bit old to even support XP. Wal-Mart has 3 in One printers for $60

XP is the only thing I ran it on. The driver was probably inadvertantly deleted at some point.

Device drivers are only supported for a limited amount of time. This Artec scanner is probably a 2001 vintage or older. Is your copy of XP updated to Service Pack 3? Windows Service Packs provide driver updates for many devices

I tried searching for an XP driver with no success. Have you tried using the Windows 2000 driver? Sometimes they work in XP

Me too. Nothing found. Thanks for looking.
Tried downloading the noted driver. Nothing.

Working again!!!! :) :) :)

Came across a site which had a link to document alternative installation for XP.

SO SIMPLE. On driver set-up icon you click on properties, click the tab for compatability, then click on install in compatabilty mode for Win2000. Went back to the set up icon. And it re-installed without a problem. Works like it always had.

:) :) :)
