Asus ROG Swift PG259QN Review: Hitting 360Hz

It's impressive speed from an IPS screen but I mean realistically......who wants to buy a small 'high end' 1080p panel now? Pro gamers andddd?

Honestly 1440p should have been the new standard 5 years ago. Its not that much more demanding on systems and it adds a lot more clarity, while not killing systems like 4K does.

There isn't a "standard." People buy what they can afford and much of the time that's 1080p. 1440p, 4K, 900p, and 768p aren't any more or less a standard than 1080p and if you could somehow force 1440p to be a "standard," how could that possibly be good for the buyer?

"No sir, you can't have a less expensive 1080p monitor because 1440p is the 'standard.'"

Yeah, not gonna happen.

Standard just means that the price is so decent that everyone leans that way. 1080p was expensive when it first came out. It dropped in price and became standard.

Well, maybe it's just me. I'm not "sensible enough", even if my visus is checked twice a year due to my job, but while I can definitely feel the difference from a 60 Hz to a 144 Hz monitor, I bought a 165 Hz and tried a 240 Hz monitor and I cannot see any difference while gaming. Absolutely nothing.

Everytime I see new monitors come out I'm like
240hz or 360hz ... yes....
IPS Panel... yes...
24" class monitor ... yes...
Gsync/Freesync ... yes...
1080p ... no! why can't they make a 24" class 1440p/2160p with the rest of these specs?! *flips chair* *flips desk* *flips house*

Simple: Business, Economics.

1080p is easier to make run at 360Hz with current tech so they made that now. So they can sell that now. And make money now.

If they can make 1440p/360Hz next year but instead wait until then and make no 1080p/360Hz monitors, they would sell and make profit on exactly zero units until next year. Which seems to be a bad business strategy.
