Audio device issue

This is too new for these problems but I note there is a relatively new bios flash there though it doesn't say what it is for I would do it and see if that doesn't fix it.

After you did the clean install did you install the chipset driver first and then all the appropriate motherboard drivers afterwards?

Hi IMHO there are two kinds of problems. Software or Hardware. If you performed a clean install exactly like the link I attached in my post, Then you have a hardware problem. Those are my thoughts. Other members may disagree.

Very true Gary yet the problem seems to be that Windows will not recognize the software so it still could be the wrong driver as easily as the soundcard is bad. This seems to be a special Asus soundcard and I am wondering if maybe there is an Asus driver
we don't seem to see. They are really "pissy" to talk to at Asus but maybe its time for the user to call Asus if the bios doesn't fix it.

Thanks for joining this thread and helping @Rich M . Team work is good. Wondering if you opened the OP's trouble shooting attachment in their firs post. I'm out of ideas. Please open the attachment in the 1st post and post back what you think the trouble shooter is telling the OP.(y)

I've saved this info for last.
You seem to be getting nowhere with the driver problem.
You might want to install the free version of DriverMax.

https://www.drivermax.com/

It will tell you which drivers you need.
The free version allows you to download 1 or 2 drivers per 24 hour period.
I've got a lifetime license to the Pro version.
I've used it for years to update my drivers.

Just think about it.
You can always uninstall it if it doesn't help.

Hi @DavidBailey Nice post!(y) I show the same thing in device manager. I don't like 3rd party driver programs, but some times they will get the job done.
I like this one. Most techs bad mouth 3rd party driver programs, but in cases like this one, they might get the job done.

Wireless device? If so, make sure it is not connected to another device. A lot of headsets or headphones cannot connect to two devices. Also, you can go to properties and check the box to make your laptop connect to a hands free device. Hope this helps.
