Without a doubt PS2, Dota 2, TF2, Path of Exile and possibly swtor/tera (shootmania elite mode will be f2p as well) are the top end f2p games imho.

Haha real life free to play, you have to pay rent buy food, clothes pay bills. The real life has the best graphics and is lag free(unless you come across drugs) but the main downside is Perma death.

Played it for years without spending a dime. Granted you need to purchase a monthly subscription, but that can be done in-game using Eve's currency which you earn through playing..

Also, the single most stunning, unforgiving and enormous SF universe you could imagine..

Kingdom of Loathing is a browser-based, text-based free to play game. Not much in the way of interaction, but the way some people play the big graphical games, they'll never notice the difference.
