Black Screen

Hey everyone, I have an HP pavilion dv8000 laptop. Last night everything was working fine, then this morning I turned it on and all the lights turned on on the keyboard, and the screen seems to be lit up but it is completely black. I see a screen for a few seconds that says Hp and has options on the bottom, then the screen turns black. I tried hooking it up to a monitor but it is black on the monitor also. Anybody know whats wrong?

Hard drive failure

so what does that mean? My laptop has two hard drives so did they both fail? Also what is the best thing to do with this knowledge?

Your boot drive or primary hard drive has failed, not the optional secondary hard drive. This secondary hard drive is for data only. It is not bootable...

The best thing to do is to take the laptop in for service
