Im not sure if this is the right forum for this. My apologies if it isn't.

My son has a Dell Laptop running XP that has developed the "Blue Screen" Problem on startup. It cycles through the Windows screen with the scrolling bar at the bottom with no problems. After that, I get an error:

STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Windows Logon Process system process termintated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down.

Any ideas as to what might be wrong? Or what to try? Any help would be appreciated.

You are in the right forum. :)

The error 0x21a can be caused by malware infestation (though by no means the only reason). Can you boot into Safe Mode?

No, even if I boot in safe mode, it gives me the same error screen. We found a reinstallation disk for XP but it turned out to be for a desktop PC. The re-install was successful, but, now it doesnt recognize the wireless connection on the laptop and we also noticed it's not recognizing speakers. I assume it's because it's thinking it is a desktop. Is there any way of fixing that?
