I have some Logitech Z-2300 speakers, and a 7.1 X-Fi Xtreme Music soundcard.

Could I get a few extra speakers to make my pc into 5.1 surrond?

I'm guessing I would need two extra sets of speakers, any advice?

CHeers,

Alex.

You cannot upgrade that into 5.1 since your
built-in amplifier is designed to produce 2.1.

even "if" you have extra audio outputs for speakers
at the back of your subwoofer enclosure & add or tap
another set of speakers to that, you still get the 2.1 Ch.

if you want to add some more speakers, you also need
to add another amplifier & hook that new sets of speakers
to your new amplifier & plug it to another audio output from
your sound card (rear/front).but that is only 4.1 Ch in equivalent.

Sorry, I meant plugging extra speakers (with built in amps) into the other outputs on my soundcard (not my current 2.1 system).

In theory it definatley should be possible...

Thats right turbo1
The subwoofer controls the # of speakers to your sound card.
So you need the complete package.

That's absolutely correct!..

actually, you can do that until you get the 8 channel (7.1).

but you'll need as much amplifiers as your sound card outputs have. :)
