Booting error; Windows 7 won't start or even enter safe mode

When I try to boot my Dell Latitude E6410, it moves past the product screen, but never shows the windows logo, or boots.. I've tried going into safety mode, but can't, the screen just shows a blinking cursor after the dell screen. can anyone please help me? I'd greatly appreciate it.

Try and download an ubuntu live cd image. If your laptop boots straight in ubuntu then you will know that your hardware is ok and you can reinstall windows 7 with out worry. whilst you are in ubuntu you can plug in an external hard drive at the same time and backup all of your files pre the w7 reinstall!
