Yesterday I tried to get rid of a virus that Avira kept finding on my laptop but couldn't seem to remove. I downloaded the free comodo antivirus, installed it and without restarting my system I tried to use it to remove the virus. It removed a file services.exe and everything seemed ok. I shut down the computer.
Today I tried starting but I keep getting a blue screen saying "A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage.A process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated

I tried starting in safe mode, repairing, and all the options offerred when pressing F8 to no avail
What can be the reason for this and what can I try?
