Burger King's Impossible Whopper goes nationwide starting next week

MILK is a fluid designed to take a 10 pound calf into being a 500 pound cow.

It's filled with hormones and proteins - but homogenization has severe impact on both due to the unnatural boiling heat.

No other species drinks another species' milk from infancy till death besides humans.

There is no way in hell that's natural or in sync with human evolution.

Human Breast Milk is the only thing newborn humans should be drinking.

Realistically, adults shouldn't be drinking it.

This is a special kind of silly. Colas, beers, wine, liquor and on and on. These are just beverages like milk with various properties and tastes. Saying humans shouldn't drink cow's (or goat, et al) milk is like saying humans shouldn't eat bamboo shoots because pandas eat bamboo . That really applies to any food for that matter. No sugar, no colas and so on. We should only drink water I suppose.

Soy-based...
There is a lot more than soy in it.

The impossible burger tastes close enough to a real burger that if someone gave it to you and didn't tell you, you wouldn't know. It even bleeds like a normal burger.

However, of you eat one side-by-side it is pretty obvious which one is the real burger. That said, I recommend trying it just for the f*** of it. I tried it out of curiosity and wasn't disappointed. That said, I'm sticking to real meat for the time being.

I've been veggie for 4+ years and I wouldn't force my views upon anyone, but my opinion is that when fake meats/protein becomes cheaper than home grown animal protein then there will be a cultural change to meat based on economics. In all seriousness of you can get protein without an animal suffering why wouldn't you?

"15 percent less fat and 90 percent less cholesterol. " and 0% flavor of a real meat burger. You can't make me eat it even if you pay me. But a lot of soyboys will be delighted to add more crap to their life style.

No other species cooks their food either, so we should eat everything raw. We should stop growing our own crops too, no other animal does that. Go back to foraging for wild plants and eating raw meat like we were meant too. Of course medicine is definitely out, and clothes for sure. I shouldn't even be using this computer, no other species posts on Techspot. Why are humans so unnatural? All kidding aside there is nothing wrong with drinking milk. It's just food, like any other.

If they "had a hard time differentiating between a regular Whopper and the Impossible Whopper", that's not saying much good.

I've had an impossible hamburger somewhere else before. It tasted fine, but not a fan of it on a burger surprising enough (maybe my expectations were too high).
So still very much prefer a proper (quality) beef patty any day.

Except for the whole "human beings naturally evolved the ability to process milk in adulthood long before modern scientific influence" thing. Or do you think some unnatural evil science was working on humans 20000+ years ago?

Human beings are the only mammal species that naturally evolved the ability to process milk into adulthood, and for good reason. In the ancient world, those that could drink milk were taller, stronger, with much denser bones then those who could not. Today, we also know the ability to drink milk as an adult is linked to a significantly reduced risk of osteoporosis and bone cancers later in life.

I dont know why you think drinking milk, something we NATURALLY EVOLVED TO DO, is bad, while the estrogen found in soy is somehow perfectly A-OK.
That's what the milk lobby wants you to believe. Whenever there's a food study, determine who's paying for it. Every thing that milk is supposed to provide can be found elsewhere. The body has the ability to develop tolerances, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's optimum. I eat dairy, I get congested. I stop eating dairy, the congestion goes away. In all animal species, milk is consumed by babies. Then they are weaned off of it, never to consume again. Now that seems to be something important that nature is telling us. A time and season for everything.

And it doesn't even seem to be healthier, that's what gets me. It has more carbs and way more sodium. I'd be all in otherwise for healthier and tastier fast food. :-(

50 years from now the survivors will remember how these burgers started the zombie apocalypse of 2019! :p

How is this article technology related? If we wanted to read about food we wouldn't come to a TECHNOLOGY site.. Just throwing it out there..

So what's it made of? It sound like you need to be growing different crops. Irrigation. Pesticides.
Protecting the crops from animals. etc. Probably better if you left the cows grazing...

Oh no, don't drink the water!

Fantastic news... I can't believe this killing of cows and eating animal flesh is still a thing, so prehistoric...

I would pick an impossible burger first... Well done Burger King, you are catching up

Probably because it's considered as biotechnology.

Huh? A lot of people are saying it tastes really damn close to a real meaty burger. Why don't you give it a try? Are you too scared that it will turn you into a soyboy? Insecurity much?

The ingredients are terrible. Pea protein isolate, canola oil, cellulose, methylcellulose, potato starch, maltodextrin, vegetable glycerin, ascorbic acid, acetic acid, succinic acid , etc - for people who care about their health its hard to believe they would put this processed junk in their bellies.

Do you like Potato stew? Because all of the compounds listed above are found in home-made potato stew. So yes, I would happily try it out, if it weren't $7 for the sandwich alone..

I think that was the joke. Hence the wink at the very end there, haha.

Another additional ingredient that's probably also listed on there is hydrogen dioxide ;)

He does not have a wink there and no, water is not listed.

My family tried it. Overall, I came to the conclusion that if actual burgers were banned or went away, I'd be perfectly happy with the Beyond meat going forward if everybody else did. BUT when having the choice, the Beyond burger just lacked a bit of that flavor that everyone craves in an actual burger. It was close enough that if it was significantly cheaper, I'd probably switch too. With it the same price or higher than meat, I'm sorry but I'm not switching.

I've tried it too. It's not bad for what is effectively a veggie burger. You're right however, not exactly the same flavors. And given the caloric difference(lack thereof), not really worth it.
