Can pass post but not access BIOS

Have a GA-MA785GM-US2H and phenom II X4 965 where I changed fan mode from auto to PWM and got a lockup while surfing. I was able to change back to auto fan mode but saving must have borked bios.Could only get a black screen; leds, fans, HDD and card spin. I've already t-shot everything. The problem is this bios issue.

Downloaded the bios from GB and put it on a flashdrive and was able to get past post to the preliminary screen where you press Del for Bios but that's as far as it would take me. Now, in trying to reboot, I just get a black screen again.

Anyone have any advice as to how I can access bios, so I can save/flash and get this to behave normally?

Thanks,

Mac

Clear out the bios settings put the jumper on the other 2 metal prongs.
Unplug the computer and leave it like that for 15 minutes.
Come back to it, put the jumper back into the default position, put cord back in.

Plug in your keyboard, and power it on, check the keyboard led lights.
If it flashes 2 or 3 times, that indicates the bios is working alright.
Quickly tap the delete key or F1 and it should let you back in.

Which bios version did you install before it did all of this ?
I am going to guess and say you have F12f on it, this is a beta bios.
Use this last recent one before gigabyte stopped supporting this mobo.

MaikuTech thanks for the help. I was trying the rev 1.0 (original) bios the board came with. Ended up being the cpu. Borked it w/ a new fan on HS when I switched from auto fan mode to PWM. Weird. Seems you have to somehow calibrate PWM. Think this 965 may be toast.

So booted into one of my OS's now and I hope it will continue to boot ok. I could download @Bios and try to see if the bios is ok but GB site says DualBios automatically recovers bios data when main crashed or failed. Hope in this case the ROMS work as they should.

Thanks again.

Use this tool and click on the mainboard tab, it'll show you which current bios is installed.
I don't know what the problem is with that gigabyte but if you intend on using am3 for awhile.
Move on to the am3+ platform such as this:

I've had that one for a few years and it did a great job before I left it for intel haswell lga 1150.
If you think your phenom 2 x4 965 might be an issue run it by a computer shop and have them run a full test.
