Charging slow-charging North American devices in Europe?

Every voltage adapter I've looked at warns against its use for electronics, for extended durations, or unsupervised. This is just the opposite of the charging requirement for my electric toothbrush. Googling indicates that voltage adaption is fraught with risks.

Is that really the situation, or is there a safe, reliable solution?

I took an Apple charger to Europe with a Europe converter (240->120) and life was good.

Also there are Universal Chargers (both 240 or 120) that work well.

If google says a particular brand is untrustworthy -- BELIEVE IT.

Closes Apple thing I could find was Apple World Travel Adapter Kit (http://www.apple.com/ca/shop/product/MD837AM/A/apple-world-travel-adapter-kit). However, it doesn't seem to actually change the voltage.
