Check out the Half-Life: Alyx announcement trailer

I’ll just watch pewdiepie play the game, or I’ll make a DIY VR headset like the cheapskate I am

Yeah you limit your customer base by going VR only but I see it in a positive way. Games for far too long relied on button smashing and screen prompts. I see this as a step towards much more instinctive gameplay. The way the character slides the bucket over on the shelf for a better view and when crossing arms to shoot across your body just can't happen in non VR. Valve is trying to make gaming a new experience, I understand why they didn't just make another click and shoot. Still curious about character movement. I haven't played VR much at all but I really hope the traversal isn't like skyrim teleport style.

Edit: looking at the interview it is teleport style. Not interested.

Teleport style movement would kill it for me too, but I have some good news for you - PCGamer reports that there will actually be 3 movement OPTIONS: teleport style, "shift" style (smoothly zooming between points), AND full analog stick control.

Likely walking in place as well. I'm sure Natural Locomotion will support the game.
