Okay, which hardware diagnostic would you suggest I run now? The memory test checked out. I'm not really familiar with different hardware testing programs

Find the make of your harddrive and go to their website. The manufacturer will supply a free harddrive diagnostic utility. Run the tests especially the long ones that take time.

I ran the test for my harddrive and it passed the test. The test does verify though that the harddrive is 500 gigs but my C drive is only showing 137 gigs.

Okay, I discovered when I was checking my computer why there was only 137 gigs available. apparently when I partitioned it, there's an auto setting that limits drives with OSes to 137 gigs. I had to wipe the drive to make all of the drive available. However, as soon as I installed the driver for my videocard, it BSODed again.

Here's the new dump with no connection to the internet and no files at all except for the drivers which i had placed on a usb by themselves.

Another stop message. I had a friend who's in computer repair take a look at it. They also think that I have a faulty motherboard, but I'm going to have a tech take a look at it. We'll see how it goes.

Thank you for all your help, route44. I'm sorry if this was more aggravating than anything else.

Trust me, jacket, this is by no means aggaravating. The only time it becomes aggravating is when posters don't take advice and yet complain.

Anyway, sorry for the delay. You posted 3 days ago a minidump file. The error was 0x1A and it cited memory corruption.

Let us know what the IT guy discovers. It may very well be the motherboard afterall as has been suggested. I also would let him know of your minidump reads and the error codes and probable causes as cited.

It's alright. He's going to look into compatibility with my hardware first. However it was relatively short since there was no external signs as to what the cause might be. I'll be bringing it into him after he's finished checking out my components and have them tested individually. (probably)

In the meantime, I was working on a 3d project today. It went fine and rendered everything alright, but by the time I brought everything into aftereffects to composite it together I got two more bluescreens and the program kept crashing.

This is hinting more towards the memory I think. However, I'll post up these minidumps as well.

I checked the core temperature and it was at 40 C at the end of rendering.

I scanned each of my memory sticks again with the memtest. I still have the same weird issue where the first time I scan all of them, it says i have an error with the memory, but then when I scan each one individually it doesn't find any errors. I was also worried that maybe one of the slots was messed up. So I scanned a ram individually in each slot and no errors were found this time either.

It's still bluescreening a lot, and each time now I'm getting the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error and each time i check and my cpu is at max 40 C.

In particular, it hated playback in aftereffects

Sorry for the delay in answering. I read your latest dumps and one is 0xA and it specifically cited memory corruption. Were you able to set the memory voltage in the BIOS to 2.0?

As I stated before I don't know how to adjust that in the bios. Whenever I attempted to I couldn't get it to set to higher than 1.8 but I'm not sure if I'm even in the correct section for that.

Is there any explanation/screenshots/information about what should be changed in order to increase my ram voltage? Is it the option that states DRAM? Do I add the amount between the DRAM and the other options that state voltage going towards DRAM

Yes you want the DRAM Voltage. It will be found on the MB Intellegent Tweaker (M.I.T.) screen. Your motherboard should have come with a manual that shows various BIOS screens.

Look for DRAM Voltage. It will be set on Auto. Click that on and manually set it to 2.0 (as per the recommended voltage by manufacturer) and don't forget to press F10 to Save.

okay with the ram all set at 2.0 voltage I got another crash.

This one on the bluescreen didn't offer the error that it had experienced.

I was only sitting at the computer running windows live messenger and listening to itunes when It crashed. However, it did only crash when I minimized the livemessenger chatwindow and there was some artifacts appearing on the screen before the crash happened. To elaborate, I would minimize the window and then I would still see the window on the screen, yet it would block out icons on the desktop that would of been beneath the window and the edges were missing showing the desktop underneath.

The error is 0x8E and it only cited a Windows OS driver which isn't much help.

The artifacting points to your video card. Is you fan on your card running? How are the temps? Do you get any BSODs doing anything else?

All my temps are running below 35 C overall. I have been checking them off and on around BSOD just to make sure it's not overheating. I don't know too much if the graphics card is running since the position of the motherboard puts it in upside down and I can't really see if it's moving within it's case. However I have run graphics card stability tests with no crashes

Have you tried updating your video card drivers?

1. Download Driver Cleaner Pro or Driver Sweeper (both have free versions) to your desktop screen and install.

2. Download the latest driver(s) for your video card but don't install them.

3. Uninstall your video card drivers and reboot your PC into Safe Mode. Run Driver Cleaner Pro or Driver Sweeper. If it doesn't find any video card drivers that is quite okay.

4. Reboot and install new video card drivers.

Yep we did that like a couple of posts before, remember?

I did that before with no help at all. However I'm still willing to give it another shot at this rate...

I forgot! :D Are you still getting BSODs or any artifacting like before?

nothing so far, but it likes to wait a day or so before it randomly bluescreens on me. So it's still a case of we'll see...

Edit:

I did as you asked, but for some reason catalyst control isn't allowing me to open it up. It's not showing up on my task bar even after restarting several times and when i search in program files it's not there. I tried reinstalling it like 3 times and it still isn't showing up.

Edit2:

4th times a charm, now the catalyst manager is showing up. I'll let you know if any BS stops occur

Here's an example of the artifacts that happen when I'm using msn messenger. I'm not sure if it's just msn being wonky or if it's an issue with my graphic's card.

I blurred the conversation in photoshop for privacy

Sorry, jacket, I can't tell where the artifacting is taking place. Have you tried a different messenger service to see if you still get the issues? Are you experiencing this problem doing anything else? Are your Microsoft updates, well, updated?

Also, it has been 2 days now. Any BSODs?

basically the entire message box. The window is minimized and that remained up. At the side and the top you can see the icons from the desktop through the messenger program and the side is cut off because of stuff beneath it.

MSN was the only messenger that i experienced this with but I wasn't sure if it was just a weird glitch with the program or my graphic's card.

No BSOD yet after 2 days. I even left my computer on to see if it'd bluescreen over night (it has done that before)

I only have vista atm updated with service pack 1 and 2 due to the fact one of the times we were dealing with the bluescreens it was suggested that it was an incompatibility between a few of the updates and my graphics card.

Another bluescreen last night. The same Stop error 'not less or equal'. The computer was just sitting alone by itself really when it crashed. It didn't have any program going except background programs and maybe firefox.

Another 0xA error and another Vista driver which isn't much help. Many people have issues with Sleep or Hibernation mode in Vista. Was the PC transitioning between any of these modes?

Not that I know of. It happened while I left the computer on overnight. It had entered hibernation mode at some point. So perhaps going into sleep/hibernation mode. I can attempt to put the computer into sleep mode to see if it induces a BSOD.

as you may of noticed, the bluescreens are happening less frequently but still at random. I'm still not sure what is the cause.
