New rig custom build with Win 7, and the system hangs/locks up repeatedly now, especially when I try and multitask. I went into control panel > admin tools > event viewer, and found that the majority of the errors are from
"Driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort2."
Some errors were critical though ("reboot without clean shutdown due to system not responding"). I also recently got Windows update error codes 80246002 and 643, pointing at missing or corrupt files.
This is becoming a mess, and I'm wondering if I should just cut my losses and reformat the whole thing. But what really worries me atm is the driver controller error on ide port 2. Could that be pointing at a bad motherboard?
System specs: AMD Phenom II 1090T Black Edition 3.2 Ghz
ASUS M4a87TDEVO mobo
WD 2T 7800 RPM HD
16 GB Corsair Vengeance PC 1600 (only running at 1333 because I suck at OC'ing)
