Ok, its not a massive problem but its something i'd like sort out because i'd like to learn it properly.

COMMAND PROMPT!! in windows xp sp3.

when i load up cmd on my work machine it defaults to a Z:\ directory, which is our shared user are on our server.

so i type 'cd' to change directory but every directory i type (C, D etc) i cannot change it... it just goes back to Z....

whats going on? is it because i'm on a domain or something?

thanks for you help

If you want to change to a different drive just type C: or D: and press enter.

You use cd when you're already on the drive you want to move around on - to change drives do what JMMD said.
