The German computer mag PC-WELT has just concluded a comparison test of the speed of the five major browsers, using the Peacekeeper benchmark. This test awards points representing the speed with which the browser processes Java commands. The number of points gives information about the operations or frames rendered per second.
The test gives a clear picture with significant differences among the contestants. The classification results are as follows:
Rank
1 Chrome 19 (2028 points)
2 Opera (1525 pts)
3 Firefox 13 (1298 pts)
4 Safari 5 (1237 pts)
5 IE 9 (1131 pts)
Thus, clear winner with a difference is Google’s Chrome which is nearly twice as fast as the IE and Firefox. Opera occupies an honorable second place.
