I have an old HP Compaq 6710b and I want to stream it to my modern TV. I do not know how to go about this or what cable to buy (my laptop is too old to have a HDMI output. Any help would be appreciated. The laptop has a VGA output port and TV output port, as well as 4 USB 2.0 ports and a headphone port.

You will likely need an adapter device that will bridge the gap between VGA and HDMI.

Aigrous (VGA Male to HDMI Female) - less than $20.
Converts PC VGA and audio to HDMI, allowing connection of PC to 1080p HDTV Input: VGA & Stereo Audio.

Next time don't mention the "torrenting" bit. Sites have a tendency to frown on torrent usage, especially when it can be linked to pirating. Techspot is one of the sites that cannot condone this behavior.

On a side note I had no idea these devices have gotten so cheap. Last I looked they were $80.
