CPU makes a weird noise as if plane is taking off and goes on making it even after it been booted?

CPU makes a weird noise as if plane is taking off and goes on making it even after it been booted? And once rebooted it just freezes but the noise is still there? Can any someone please help?

It is not the CPU, it is the CPU's cooling fan. What are this computers make and model?

Thanks. The make is Acer and model is Aspire SA80. I thinking of opening the tower and cleaning the fan and see if it will make a difference. Any advise.

From what I can tell the Acer Aspire SA80 uses the "ECS 661GX-M7" motherboard which has a LGA775 CPU socket.

There are several after-market CPU coolers for LGA775 to choose from.

Many times replacing the fan is all that is needed, if you know the size of the fan (60mm, 80mm, 120mm, etc...).

It may have bad bearings, and need to be replaced, but it's worth a look

Sounds like my old Dell Dimension 8300 - when the heat sink got clogged with dust, the fan would get louder until it sounded like a hair dryer. Usually just blowing out the dust will quiet things down.
