Desktop screen keeps going black

Hi all, I am having issues with my desktop computer. For no apparent reason, the screen will go black while I am right in the middle of something. It doesn't seem to be the same as when the computer goes to sleep if you are idle for too long. I can literally be in the middle of typing something and it will go to a black screen and I have to reboot. Help! This is really annoying....

Any idea what the desktop computers make and model is?

Change the power settings from balance to high power
Change idle from sleep to never
Check the monitor cables to make sure they're tighten.
Check the monitor power cord or the monitor itself my be timing out for some strange reason. (replace it)
