Device driver not installed

A few days ago I was tryng to recharge my iphone on my W7 but kept getting a notice by the notification area saying device driver not installed. Why does it need to install it every time? Its never happened previously.
Then this morning I was recharging it & I kept hearing the connect/disconnect sound. I opened up My Computer & watched as the iphone icon disappeared & reappeared. I finally pulled it out & plugged it into my laptop & no problem.
But I ask again, why does it need to install a driver each time?

Try a different USB Port. See if you are still have the same problem. If not it may be the USB port you were using is going bad.

I did such later in the day & it worked fine. Then I tried the other one & no problem. If it happens again, should I check it out in the Device Manager or just a different USB?

It may have been it just did not connected right the first time. But I would still keep a eye on it it for a while.
