DHCP invalid IP address?

So I own an Hp Pavilion a1587c with Windows XP service pack 3, with a Linksys WMP54GX Wireless-G PCI Adapter Card with SRX, updated drivers and all.

Now the issue I am having is that when I attempt to connect to my home network with the correct WEP etc. I get a limited or no connectivity message and cannot access the internet. I ran the network diagnostics tool and discovered that my adapter was working fine, the DNS server IP passed but my DHCP had an invalid IP address. I honestly don't know what to do, I even called my ISP and they said that it was a technical problem with my computer and directed me to Linksys who want to charge me $69.99 for help. I also tried connecting to another network in my neighborhood successfully which proves that its not an adapter problem seeing as it works just fine, though that network is unsecured.

Thanks for any help!

first use a wired connection - - that will allow easy access and show that DHCP (used for both wired and wireless) can actually work
