I am formatting & installing Win XP SP2 ( Dell CD ).

I need help.

First is there a SP3 for Win XP Pro ? If yes any download links please.

I had MS .NET 2.0 untill now which was 22.4 MB

Now I see .NET 2.0 SP1 which is 23.6 MB

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...AD3-AACF-A7633F706BA5&displaylang=en#Overview

I also see on MS site following :

MS .NET 3.0 ( Only 2.8 MB )

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...0B-F857-4A14-83F5-25634C3BF043&displaylang=en

MS .NET 3.5 ( Only 2.7 MB )

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FD-AE52-4E35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en

So I am totally confused as to which .NET should I install.

Also for XP SP3,

Should I just auto download just SP 3 after installing SP2 from my Dell CD OR Re Install the whole Win XP SP3 ?

If the whole Win XP SP3 where do I get that ?

Thank You in advance to all those experts.

Too many questions!

So I'll answer safely

Do all the .NET Service Packs (they are all individually required - I know it's strange)

Install your Dell SP2
Then download and install Xp SP3 from Windows Update (or just search MS)

Well, I guess I come from a different direction. Some programs, such as Microsoft Money, require the NET framework. If you don't have any of those programs, you can uninstall "all" the NET framework entries in Add/Remove Programs.
(This included the mysterious 'limited guest account for ASP NET in OE)

As for SP3, IF you got the SP1, SP2 and updates since SP2, you don't need SP3. If you are reformatting with SP2 on the CD, you will need to either get the updates out since then, or install SP3.

I do not recommend anyone using the Automatic Update feature for Windows Update. Instead, choose either 'download but don't install' or 'don't download or install, notify me'. Then use the Custom install feature (instead of Express), check the contents of each update, decide if you want or need each one, then install appropriately.

So robertq, which way are you going (Sp2 + All updates, or Sp3?)

I still stand by my post above mind you
