Drive not recognised

Hello

I have taken apart my old computer and I took the hard drive in the hope of installing it on another computer and still have the operating system and programs that I had before. When I installed the hard drive, it wouldnt recognise it and I was told by someone that nothing could be done since I could not remember what motherboard i had on the other computer. Is there a way i can use my old hard drive on my new computer and have the programmes i had before running?

Thanks and best regards,
Alex

If the drive still works should be no problem. You can either
> Get a USB to SATA/PATA/IDE cable to connect it (example) which is good for more temporary access OR
> Get a suitable USB drive enclosure to access it and use it as one of your USB external hard drives (example)

If you get an enclosure, you might be best to get one at your local brick and mortar store (to make sure you get the right connectors) so you can also easily return it if you get the wrong one
