In a nutshell: Drones that can detect people potentially infected with Covid-19 are now being tested in the US. In addition to spotting possible carriers, the UAVs are also used to identify anyone who might be violating social distancing orders.

Last month, we reported on drone maker Draganfly, which has been working on drone tech that uses specialized onboard thermal sensors and a smart computer vision system to monitor people’s temperature, heart and respiratory rates from a distance of 190 feet. It’s even able to detect sneezing and coughing in crowds, and can measure social distancing between individuals.

The drones will be used in Australia and are now being tested in the US. Digital Trends reports that the Westport Police Department in Connecticut, which has seen over 17,550 Covid-19 cases, is now trialing Draganfly’s product.

“Westport is testing the Draganfly health and public safety system to analyze and provide anonymized data on social distancing, heart rate, fever rate, and respiratory behavior, and doesn’t collect individualized data,” Cameron Chell, CEO of Draganfly, told the publication. “The data tested for use by public safety professionals [is intended] to get a better picture of population health. The technology has been peer-reviewed and clinically researched to help protect potential at-risk groups, such as seniors, crowds gathering at the town and state-owned beaches, train stations, parks and recreation areas, shopping centers and other areas where people tend to gather.”

Several countries have been utilizing drones to ensure people adhere to quarantine rules, including Spain, which has been using speaker-equipped UAVs to scold people.

Should the trial at Westport PD prove successful, Draganfly’s drones are expected to be used across other parts of the US heavily hit by Covid-19. “We are in talks to provide our health and public safety drone platform with other communities, organizations and companies that reside in other so-called hotspot areas around the country — mostly heavily populated cities like New York, Boston, and LA,” added Chell.

This is a pretty lame article. Is everything getting labeled covid to generate clicks? Are we masking thermal imaging and drone monitoring the public as "it's to keep you healthy!"? Are they going to start arming them with guns saying "we loaded inoculation bullets" for your health... If you see someone getting shot it is because they had elevated temperatures...

Detecting COVID-19 and detecting people who are potentially infected are two completely different things. Enough with the clickbait.
COVID-19 is the name of the illness. The name of the virus is SARS-CoV-2 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Severe_acute_respiratory_syndrome_coronavirus_2). So yes, these drones would detect COVID-19, I.e. people suffering the syndrome, and certainly not the virus itself.
So "Detecting COVID-19 and detecting people who are potentially infected" are exactly the same thing.
And then we can discuss whether it's clickbait or not, but get your facts straight.

I'm sure these police departments will just get rid of all their surveillance drones as soon as this is over. /sarcasm

That's the kicker. It will never be "over". H1N1 still kills thousands per year and it'd had a vaccine and been in rotation for a decade. This virus will never be technically "gone", considering how much more easily it spreads.

It will never "be over". The globalist "new world order/one world order types are creaming their jeans over how easy the world has been hoodwinked into giving up their freedoms for "a little safety & security". This virus, is another strain of "the flu" although it can be more serious than others, globally it has taken less lives than a typical flu season. Yes, it has run quicker, but, (USA) almost twice as many have recovered, than have died, and if you were to test even the ones that showed no symptoms they would probably test positive. Some never get sick, a small amount will have a minor cold/flu symptoms, a few will have major health issues and yes, some will die. Most of the deaths were reported in Washington state in a nursing home, and the elderly, along with those that
have underlying health issues are most at risk.
The surveillance of private individuals (USA), without cause it ILLEGAL, but, people are so ignorant of the laws in the Constitution, that they do not understand once you give them up, unless you are willing to risk your life, you most likely won't get them back.

I disagree. Professionals don't call it a "Lie detector test", it's called a "Polygraph test".

When taking a polygraph test, each question will be assessed with a comment of "no deception indicated", "inconclusive" or "deception indicated". However, a full answer from the polygrapher would be along the lines of "The subject's physiological response was consistent with a person being deceptive in their answer."

See where I'm going? If we've got a drone that's doing nothing more than measuring a person's body temp, respiratory patterns, heart rate, and can detect sneezing and coughing...let me ask you the most simple of questions: Have you ever had a fever, or any of the COVID-19 symptoms before in your life (ever sneezed or coughed), before you had COVID-19? Of course the answer is yes. Therefore, it does NOT "detect COVID-19" (illness or its associated virus, SARS-CoV-2). Just like a polygraph, the best those drones can do is help whomever is operating it determine whether the detected individual has any symptoms and *thus* considered a much higher risk having it. Or actually just sick with another virus such as the seasonal flu. She ain't no definitive airborne, positive COVID-19 detector, that's for sure. Just like polygraph test results aren't admissible in court, no way that drone will be very useful for anything, except for maybe...clickbait! ;)

You CANNOT glean heart and respiratory rate from vision only. Saying otherwise is a lie. Pay attention to the video, you can see this system detecting any raised arm gesture as a cough so the gesture/ activity recognition doesn't even work. These fools have found even bigger fools in govt to peddle their shite.

MIT released a video that detects people on the street if they are not 6 feet away.

WTF is wrong with these people?
They are trying to terror the masses.

A national emergency is cause. Not saying I am ok with this but that gives the Government a ton of additional permissions and they can give those to themselves.

Once your rights are stolen by government, typically the only way to get them back is armed revolt.

Nothing new. Whenever something happens that can be turned to a government's advantage they will use it to pass "emergency" measures and push through "executive orders" that are never removed after the issue passes. These measures totally ignore consitutional rights for citizens.
