Dual monitor help

Ok so I just got a computer thats able to run dual moniters. they both have vga and dvi hookups. whgen I use the vga it connects but the dvi cable wont work. I only have one of both so im not sure what to do
the moniters are hannspree hf225

Have you tried hooking up the VGA to both monitors to verify that both monitors work? I found this website which might help.
