EliteGroup 661FX M; Phoenix AwardBios v6.00PG; V2Premier Computer: Updated windows. Restarted computer and it froze shortly after entering windows startup – repeated attempts to start normally ended with same result. Tried restarting in safe mode with last known good configuration – same result. Tried safe mode with boot log – same result. Tried running os repair with installation cd – same result. Thought hard drive had gone bad so took the hd to a computer repair business to save data from hd – data successfully retrieved and hd passed all tests. Reinstalled hd & tried booting, got same results as before. Reformatted hd & reloaded os (xp home) – upon reboot still got same result. Checked all cables for good connection & jumpers for proper settings, reset bios using jumper, entered bios and selected auto detect hd – still no bootup. Installed new hd , loaded xp home – got same result as with original hd . I don’t know what else to try. Any suggestions – new mb maybe?
