Forward-looking: Tesla is gearing up to launch a paid self-driving taxi service in Texas later this year. Speaking during Tesla's Q4 earnings call, CEO Elon Musk expressed confidence that the company will conduct an initial launch of an "unsupervised, no-driver, full self-driving cab service" in Austin by June.

Musk stated that the company already operates thousands of autonomous vehicles daily at its Fremont factory and hopes to roll out the robotaxi service commercially within a few months. He also expects unsupervised Full Self-Driving (FSD) software to be available to Tesla owners in California and other regions by the end of the year.

Addressing Tesla's decision to launch in just one city initially, Musk explained, "We're… putting our toe in the water gently at first just to make sure everything is cool." He emphasized the company's cautious approach, adding that expansion to other markets will only happen once Tesla is confident in the safety of both passengers and the general public.

Musk first announced Tesla's self-driving robotaxi service during a custom Cybertruck prototype launch last year, stating that the company aimed to roll out the service in Texas and California by 2025 using Model Y SUVs and Model 3 sedans.

Since then, neither Musk nor Tesla has provided further updates until now. However, a recent Bloomberg report revealed that Tesla has been in discussions with Austin city officials about launching the service. According to the report, Tesla employees have been working with Austin's autonomous vehicle task force since at least May 2024 to address safety concerns.

Last October, Musk disclosed that Tesla was testing a robotaxi service in the Bay Area with company employees using an unreleased app; each vehicle had a safety driver onboard. It remains unclear whether Tesla plans to follow a similar approach in Austin before officially launching the service.

Tesla has offered FSD features in its vehicles for several years. However, despite its name, the software does not make cars fully autonomous – drivers must remain attentive at all times to ensure safety.

That could soon change. Musk recently shared video footage appearing to show Tesla vehicles autonomously navigating from the factory to designated loading dock lanes without human intervention. According to Musk, this demonstration marks a significant step toward achieving true unsupervised self-driving.

When America's businesses prosper, we all prosper. FIXED^^
Well Bad, (Is it alright if I use your first name?). There's an old saying that goes like this, "all men are created equal, but some are more equal than others".

While it's true, that some here are proclaiming "increased personal wealth" after Musk was elected POTUS. However, when you look closer, it becomes a question of scale.

For those who have picked up a few grand, I'm happy for you. However, Musk has increased his wealth by billions, with the simple act of buying the trimpanzee the presidency.

Musk has helped Trump normalize corruption and swamp things so that they can prosper at the expense of the US taxpayer. FIXED.
Normalize swamp things? Have you seen what they've exposed at the core of the bureaucracy so far or are MSNBC and the MSM lying to you? The corruption and swamp things are being exposed and shutdown. People are mad that their fraudulently obtained checks stopping coming. Which is at the heart of the "No Kings" BS - super ironic considering the democrat party they support ignores the will of their own voters and chooses their candidates according to a "kings court". You can't make this stuff up!

As it so happens, both major parties have, (as you call it), "a king's court".
These are the "RNC" (Republican National Committee), and the "DNC" (Democratic National Committee). You just can't make this stuff up.

Or else, why would musk and trump be threatening to "primary local candidates" who weren't in lock step with them. With musk pumping millions into a local supreme court judges election.

Hat's off to him, he did it with great style and aplomb:

The primary difference being the Republican party holds primary elections and honors the people's choice. The democrat kings court picks whomever they decide.

You are tragically misinformed. The recent New Jersey gubernatorial primary had 6 Democratic & 5 Republican candidate.. With one candidate endorsed by trump as being "full MAGA".

The only instance you can cite is Joe Biden & Kamala Harris. Joe Biden won in 2020 by a goodly margin. So ostensibly there was no need for a presidential primary, as Biden hadn't reached his term limit. Joe dropped out, Ms. Harris was already on the ticket,

I've voted for the past 50+ years, in both primary and general elections, and there have always been "contenders for the throne", from both parties.

At the risk of having this post pulled too, you're really just "making ash!t up".

So you relish in a major accident where people may have died and millions of dollars were thrown away? I'd rather our money be thrown at SpaceX over hotels and EBT cards for ILLEGAL INVADERS.
Well musk has blown up about a half dozen of these, "Starships", thus far. Yet he still bullsh!ts on and on about his "trip (and colony) on mars". Plus, "no one was harmed in this latest waste of taxpayer dollars". The Fed is counting on this vehicle to bring astronauts, back to the moon". Yet they keep exploding, one after another.

I stood under a B1-B at McGuire AFB, and mused something to the effect of, "food stamps be damned, we need more of these".

That should be counterbalanced by the need for food by all Americans, most of which is picked or slaughtered by, "those damned illegals".

Here's something to think about. (Not that I expect you will).

Here's the complete story. Which again, I doubt you'll either listen to, sympathize with, or care about. Somebody might be interested, first for the fact that, "history is doomed to repeat itself", and well, Mr. McCutcheon's 12 string sounds magnificent.
