Elon Musk's X claims ownership of user accounts in InfoWars sale dispute with The Onion

Next stop ... everything you uploaded to the Cloud is not yours!

data belongs to the cloud's provider ...
IMO, that's why the smart people never upload anything to "The Cloud" that they even remotely care about. If anyone uploads anything to the cloud that they care about, they should be absolutely sure they have a local backup.

Your account is just than, an account opened on a platform that you do not control fully. What you upload in the cloud is very different.

If google wants to, they can stop giving you access to your account any time they want for any reason.
Whether we agree with it or not, you are spot on on how this works.

I think a lot of folks have just not kept up with how things worked in the digital and information age. As we head into the age of AI, folks should understand at this point that ANY account on the internet or any service can be removed from your hands at any time. You dont OWN anything unless its physically in your hands.

Are you saying court orders are now "nefarious"? This kind of disregard for the law... what has the world turned into? Frauds like Trump are now lauded for their blatant illegal activities...

Yes, if a court orders you to relinquish your accounts then you should do so. Let's not pretend that that man didn't deserve this. He ruined lives.

FYI I dislike Elon because of what he represents and does. He's not fighting for your "rights", he's fighting to make money. Nothing more, nothing less. This has never been more obvious than what happened since trump won.

So you crash into me and I sue you for all your belonging... including your Social Media accounts ..?

Nefarious lawsuits are brough all the time. Just like this one. What does someone's twitter account have to do with a lawsuit, if only to hate and broil media attention for fanfare and stir up more lawfare and hatred.

NO, you can NOT have Alex jones accounts, no matter how much you hate him. He (along with everyone one of you have rights). I know many of you do not care, and can't noodle around that large of cognitive dissonance. It doesn't matter if you like the person or not, the law exists and must be applied EQUALLY to all.

note: I do not like, nor have even ever listened to Alex jones and do not care what he has done... nobody has the rights to his Social Media accounts, as much as they do Yours, or Mine.

it would solidly depend on if we are talking about Alex Jones business accounts associated with the business or his personal accounts.

Either way the point is moot because you dont have any rights on the platform as you express. You are forced to follow the terms of service which means Musk can do whatever he wants.

It is not uncommon at all for mergers, acquisitions and take overs to maintain control of accounts associated with that business but not the people who worked their personal accounts. When Verizon purchased Frontier, it gets to keep all of Frontiers emails and accounts but not the personal accounts for folks who work in Frontier.

I dont think its that hard to understand really when you start to think about it. But again, its ToS so it doesnt matter. Constitutional freedoms dont exist on private platforms that you dont own.

If you owe me billions of $$$ after trying to ruin my life, then yes. If it is your business to make money off my suffering...

You don't seem to understand what happened in this case. This wasn't an "accident".

"What does someone's twitter account have to do with a lawsuit" - it's a business asset that can generate money, money that you HAVE to pay to the victims. It's not your personal account where you troll people online.

I don't care about your full view on the world written in novel form, it all boils down to a simple phrase: "I don't want to follow the law".

So, you believe if you crash into me, I have the right to your social media account, bcz of money..? (See how crazy that sounds?)

Secondly on legal terms, these accounts were not part of the auction, and somehow they are trying to claim ownership? (Understand now ?)

Lastly, if you are not an American Citizen then your opinion on this matter means nothing at all because these laws don't govern you. I am not worried about worldly views, just ones of Constitutionality.

Alex Jones as horrid as he is, still has rights. You are trying to dismiss People's rights, based on who they are.. and bcz of personal bias.
