Error 1406 - Unable to write value to registry key

My MS Office 2003 suddenly stopped working and cited ERROR 1406 - unable to write value to registry key \CLSID\{F0291081-E-87C-4E07-97DA-A0A03761E586}.

I uninstalled MS Office 2003 and attempted to re-install - again got Error 1406. Have tried multiple registry cleaners to no avail. Have ordered MS Office 2007 but am afraid that I will be unable to install that also because or Error 1406.

Any suggestions on how to resolve?

Thanks LookingAround, but since I have already un-installed MS Office 2003, these directions don't help. If I had been able to re-install Office, then I probably wouldn't have this problem. Appreciate your suggestion, though - thanks.
