Yup. We've got anecdotes. I said that.I mean, what you gave me is just about as ancedotal as what I would give you.
Your original claim was that "most" (as in a majority) of people do not have a "standard computer." You've since changed the claim a few times to how you meant something different. That's fine since that isn't really an important point when it comes to both future sales and future developments in the technology. We probably agree on more than we disagree. There's no reason to get frustrated over this.
Without providing links, yeah I agree more people spend more recreational time on phones (not to mention smart TVs which are likely ARM-based, I assume) than on traditional computers. And lots of people can get their work done simply through a phone (or tablet.) But lots of people (arguably a majority) currently use traditional computers for work and gaming. And while the market is much more saturated, and the advancements in performance have slowed, there is a great deal of inertia to overcome if that was going to shift away from x86 machines to the ARM instruction set. So I think that's the problem people have with your initial claim, which seems to be that we'll be finding ARM processors as the primary performers in traditional laptop and desktop systems. We find that unlikely (at least in the short term) because most of those machines used for work or gaming are running Windows more so than macOS, and will not be transitioned to ARM in any sort of rapid fashion. (And while there's money in gaming, there's way more in business.)
We will have to circle back in 2 years because if Apple's ambitious goals pan out, and macOS not only runs everything it needs to in a highly performance fashion on ARM instruction sets, and PC users are envious, you can be sure that there will be "arms race" to do two things necessary - develop ARM CPUs that aren't behind Apple's walls so they can be put in PCs, and make Windows on ARM capable of running everything people use for work and gaming. Those will be big uphill battles, and there is no driving force for that until ARM is demonstrably superior for those specific use cases.
