Fix Windows folder unresponsive/slow behavior, green loading bar

It seems this is an attempt at, "dumbing down", folder options..."list". And making it a bit more obscure in the process. (no offense intended)

I have auxiliary drives loaded with thousands of photo folders. If I let Windows open thumbnails for them, I'd be waiting for hours, if not days to access them. (OK, maybe a little teeny hyperbole there).

Using the "list" option, Windows will grant access to thousands of folders in seconds. Then you use the thumbs setting for the individual folders of images. No?

I can honestly say I don't know what you are talking about, I don't use Explorer and never have. The file manager I use loads normally and then renders the icons in the background. You would think MS could be smart enough to do the same.

To me helped also: click right in given folder and then "group by" select "none".. For now,the folder with many audio, video and other stuff opens immediately.

Brilliant! I searched so many forums, and this one tip solved the problem (on Win8.1). Thank you Guest! :)

For subfolders under Music, My Windows8.1 does not open a Properties dialogue box as you describe. Even though I've done your procedure and gotten the desired result in the Music master folder, I still get the ridiculous green loading bar in each of the subfolders.
