Gabe Newell says more Valve games are coming, gives verdict on Cyberpunk 2077

No, it doesn't run like **** on top rigs. And it doesn't run bad on old rigs either. I say this as someone that has played on both.

It runs bad on i7 9700 and 1070ti. Bad = <50fps on mix of low/medium and high. It's exceptionally "fun" outside where I had fps reduced to <40.
If that is good, show me a game that is worse. Only M$ simulator is running worse, but using only 4 threads but no one is saying that that game is super well coded and "runs fine" ...

If a person is in the upper 10% of PC gaming and has a 5000 dollar PC, good for you. I could build that, but I loathe waste of money.

Interesting. I'm thinking you need to look into other sources for your problem, though.

I realize that is a 7700 to your 9700 but that's the closest comparison and weighted in your favor as well. But we are talking about old hardware so, in context, even 30fps would be considered not bad.

I bought a $5200 PC because I can afford to now, and after sitting on the old PC with an upgrade here and there for ten years I deserve to treat myself. Definitely not a waste, not only because I can afford to do that every year now if I wanted to, but because I get my money's worth with as much time as I spend on it.

I think he's talking about the game, Half Life Alyx, being VR only.
Thats my impression.

I've loved Valve games, Alyx has been the first I've explicitly excluded from playing (not just for the required hardware, I have medical issues that make vr non-viable for me too)
