Gaming on Linux; some considerations...

Some would like to run some other OS than Windows, but fear they would loose the ability to run their games on a platform like Linux (ie the generic, non-specific like Ubuntu).

Well it is possible using multiple technologies, aka
  1. Native Linux Games
  2. Windows games in Linux
  3. Browser Games
  4. Terminal Games
For the nitty-gritty, I'll refer you https://itsfoss.com/linux-gaming-guide/

There are plenty of options nowadays, Steam proton seems to be bridging the gap between performance on windows and on Linux. Also If you have two GPU's you could try to configure a GPU pass-through configuration on a windows virtual machine, progress on the gaming side of Linux is happening but at a very slow pace but it will get there eventually.
