Spike thanksgiving is on November something.
Thats when Americans could give thanks to the natives for thier food and harvest that helped them survive.
BTW happy 4th of July.
Have some fireworks.
 
We've got plenty of FW i got some rockets that fire 1.5 miles up in the air, and then some other stuff thats pretty sweet
 
Dont really know if they would be legal in UK, the reason they're legal here, is b/c most people live out in the country, they are not however legal in the cities.

Sir Howard and Spike- have been sitting here wondering-back in the sixties, when the title was coined- were you guys....... MOD??? and it just carried over? Or you guys share a time machine, and went back and snatched some mod, and brought it back?

Back in the sixties I was only a young lad. Born 1954. So the sixties weren`t really that important to me as a culture. I left school in 69 aged 15 and became a rocker. I.E Motorcycles, long hair and rock music were my thing.

Thats too bad for you, we set off some rockets here at my house, and then at 10PM EDT we're going into the city to see the main fireworks event.

Ahh its only 8PM here, not even dark, and the fireworks (illegal) are already going off. Luck Im off work fo rthe next few days, its gonna be a long night.
 
Yes, same here, should be illegal shouldnt it?

They (work) give you a day off to celebrate independence day, yet they let you go watch the fireworks that usually dont end until about 11PM then they make you get up and return to work the next day.

ohh well, this day only comes once a year

Well mate, you should of said, most people are given off. Not I, just got home around 6PM.

Sir Howard, I have wronged you! I have mentioned you to some family/friends as being "about my age." Guess I should have known- I am older than everybody! Actually, I was post-mod, myself. Got in on the tail-end of hippie, though.

In any case, your current "mod" status is deserved and appreciated (you too, Spike). I am disappointed youse guys don't have a time machine, cuz I'd sure like to find my hair! :rolleyes: :D

America never took over the world. It's at best a financial giant with it's fingers in nearly all the pies, but it doesn't rule the world.

Has everyone forgotton the cold war? Russia hasn't.

China is a rising power and I spite you to tell me that the US doesn't tread lightly in it's shadow.

Acctually as far as real control is concerned, the US hasn't even a ghost of an empire in comparison to the empires of the past. It's a strange duality really. Against empire, but beliving it has control.
 
Has anyone been following the story about the English bankers involved in the Enron scandal? Rumours abound that the FBI are up to their necks in it, and the saying "no smoke without fire" comes to mind. "Finger in all the pies" is actually an understatement imo.
 
Woa there, we'll have folk talking about CIA conspiracies and installing dictators in a sec mate. I wouldn't just include the US in the 'we're a bunch of self interested %expletive deleted%' fan club. I expect any nation with the opportunity would be taking advantage.
As an example take the East India Corporation of centuries past. Real scumbags, but undoubtedly responsible for the building of my nation's wealth and status.

Anyone doing anything fun this weekend? Soon as I'm done with work I'm getting my son from school and heading to the lake for some father son time and some fishing!
