What just happened? Sony's first-party exclusives pack a mighty punch and continue to do really well for the console. One such exclusive is God of War which has now sold more than 10 million copies, Sony revealed at its investor day briefing. The game launched to glowing reviews and it was only a matter of time until it reached this impressive milestone.

Released in April last year, God of War has since been a favorite among the PlayStation community and often regarded as a must-have title in everyone's PS4 library. The game scooped up awards left and right in all ceremonies that followed, beating arguably its biggest rival, Red Dead Redemption 2, for Game of the Year 2018.

The game sold 3.1 million units in its first three days alone, making it the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive for a brief time until Insomniac's Spider-Man overtook it with 3.3 million in sales in its first three days of release to become the fastest selling title in this generation of Sony's console.

The game is now part of the 10 million sales club, joining The Last of Us Remastered, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and Horizon Zero Dawn in achieving this impressive milestone.

Santa Monica Studio, the team behind God of War, did plan a DLC for the game but later shelved it as the director, Cory Barlog, deemed it too ambitious. A sequel is reportedly planned by Santa Monica, though the studio is yet to make any official announcement.

You say impressive but hasn't halo got over 20 million for each game in the series?

https://www.trustedreviews.com/news/halo-franchise-sales-hit-65-million-units-2925202

Halo: Combat Evolved – 6.43 million.
Halo 2 – 8.49 million.
Halo 3 – 11.87 million.
Halo Wars – 2.34 million.
Halo ODST – 6.22 million.
Halo Reach – 9.52 million.
Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary – 2.21 million.
Halo 4 – 8.94 million.

Info from 2015, so bit old. With all those remakes and PC version those numbers are higher right now, but for GoW to reach 10m in 1 year is kinda impressive.
According to VGCharts (I know, I know) still only this single game - Halo 3 - sold more than 10m (12.13m) in a lifetime. I'm guessing GoW will top that as well when price will significantly drop.

I've got the game, I played it for around 10 maybe 15 hours, haven't finished it yet. I do like it but honestly I don't understand the big deal about the game, its a solid 8 that's it :p

That is my problem with most new games I buy: I get hyped, start to play and then usually get bored before I finish it. Started to happen 5-6 years ago, before that I would finish pretty much anything I would start...

Now, with all the fancy new games here I am, playing Max Payne 2 and having a blast :D

I do still finish games just takes me way longer than it should but I think the problem is expectation. I got GoW for my Christmas by that time the game was out for quite some time and had good reviews so when I put it on I expected 11 but got an 8 so now I struggle to finish it but take Assasins Creed Odyssey for example, got the gold edition the day it came out and I've put 100 hours into it finishing the main story and the first DLC there was no expectation just fun
