Good Data Recovery Software?

Depends on what you mean by "data recovery", if you just want to copy some files from a ruined Windows install, then any Linux live-CD should work.

Anyway, try the links, kimsland posted.

Stellar Phoenix Demo version will scan, analyze and show you the data from your crashed/inaccessible hard drive. You need Stellar Phoenix full version to recover the data from inaccessible drive. The demo copy gives you a much fairer idea about chances of data recovery from your hard disk before deciding upon the purchase.

I haven't tried the demo myself, but if the only thing it gives you is a list of files, then that's probably not any better than knowing nothing. Sure the filenames can be intact, but what about the data?

Edit: If it does show parts of the data it found, then never mind.

Probably I should have said, don't use it.

The others above (my post) can be freely used, and even recover in trial mode !
The ZAR program allows 4 Folders deep in trial mode, full recovery.
